Burnout and stress are now at all-time highs across professions according to the American Psychological Association. (APA)\nBurnout is now widespread across the globe due to longer working hours and increased demands at home resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic which introduced many new stressors to nearly every facet of our lives. As the world heads into the 3rd year of the pandemic, these stressors have become chronic as a consequence heightening everyone\u2019s risk of burnout.<\/p>\n

Burnout according to the American Psychological Association is defined as a state of physical, emotional or mental exhaustion, accompanied by decreased motivation, lowered performance and negative attitudes towards oneself and others. It is described as the feeling of reduced productivity and energy as if one has nothing more to give.\nAccording to the World Health Organization, burnout is a syndrome resulting from workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.<\/p>\n

According to the World Health Organization, burnout is a syndrome resulting from workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.\n According to APA\u2019s 2021 Work and Well-being Survey of 1,501 U.S. adult workers, 79% of employees had experienced burnout. \nIn a survey of over 1000 respondents by Deloitte, 83 percent of respondents say burnout from work can negatively impact their personal relationships affecting their mental health. 91% say that unmanageable stress or frustration impacts the quality of their work, There is an increase in mistakes affecting their quality of work, miscommunication, lack of concentration as well as having a lower morale.<\/p>\n

Burnout also causes long-term changes to the body that make one vulnerable to illnesses.<\/p>\n
